Meg 2: The Trench Review: Underwater Avatar Meets Jaws.
Jason Statham is Underwater John Wick
Rating: 8 out of 10
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of horror or gore movies or have watched the first Meg movie, but I wanted to watch Meg 2: The Trench because I was interested in the almost sci-fi element of the deep sea exploration and underwater world.
I was pleasantly surprised that the gore was kept to a minimum, probably due to the PG-13 rating and the jump scares were well used throughout the movie.
The movie review from the AngryJoeShow nailed the point that the first half of the movie is like an underwater sci-fi exploration movie and the second half focuses on the horror, Jaws-like type of movie.
I really enjoyed the action from Jason Stratham doing his best impression of an underwater John Wick, but at some points, the movie, literally and figuratively, jumps the shark. This is a fun ride of a summer movie that doesn't and shouldn't take itself seriously.
