I used to laugh at the children’s stories about the boogeyman, Hansel and Gretel or the Pied Piper, but they are true. Worst yet, it is the humans who are the monsters.

While Sound of Freedom is based on a true story of Tim Ballard (played by Jim Caviezel), a former US government agent who makes it his personal mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Columbia, it is probably the best superhero movie I’ve seen in my life. The high stakes of the movie are very real, and Tim Ballard is a more bad ass version of James Bond who audiences will be rooting for throughout the entire movie.

Some might say that Sound of Freedom is a controversial because it shows human traffickers at the U.S. border, but it really highlights that the border is neither a U.S. or Mexico crisis, but a human crisis. Republican or Democrat, rich or poor, young or old, I think we can all get behind condemning pedophilia and slavery. 

With a $14.5 million budget compared to Oppenheimer’s $100 million budget, Sound of Freedom is by far a better movie than Oppenheimer, which I gave a 10 out of 10 score, with a fraction of the marketing budget, mostly depending on word-of-mouth. 

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in spy/thriller/action movies but be warned that the movie is an emotional rollercoaster not for the faint of heart. With a rewarding payoff at the end, Sound of Freedom will make you want to make a difference in the world.
